Working methods and values

How we operate

IAMANEH Switzerland implements innovative projects in the areas of health, violence and gender on the basis of human rights. We want to close gaps in health care and prevent all forms of violence against women and girls.

In implementing the projects, we work closely with locally well-established partner organisations that network and cooperate with the local authorities. The projects we support are aligned with the national healthcare system and are intended to be handed over to the local population in the long term.

Our Values

• Partnership and power-critical cooperation - our cooperation with partner organisations is based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and joint decision-making. We reflect on our ways of thinking and working in a power-critical manner in order to make our cooperation more equitable and transformative despite the colonial North-South divide. We facilitate critical debate. In our partnerships, we focus on long-term cooperation and take into account the institutional needs of our partner organisations.

• Cultural sensitivity - we recognise cultural differences and priorities. We do not judge and act with respect for local traditions and practices.
• Needs-orientation - the needs of the people in our project areas are at the centre of everything we do. We pay particular attention to the specific needs arising from multiple discrimination, ensuring that no one is left behind.

• Culture of dealing with errors - Mistakes represent an opportunity for further development. We take responsibility - individually and collectively - and communicate openly and proactively.

• Tolerance - Diversity enriches. We are therefore open, inclusive and recognise differences as an opportunity. We resolve conflicts constructively and with respect.

• Transparency and accountability - we communicate openly and are transparent about the basis for our decisions. Information on progress and the use of funds is consistently fed back to relevant stakeholders.
